Kids Garden Month

April is Kids Garden Month

Garden Together At Home

Each April, KidsGardening celebrates the joy and wonder of gardening with children with Kids Garden Month. This year, our ways of connecting with one another have rapidly changed. Families and educators, we want to see the ways you are using gardening activities to engage kids while you're at home. Let’s create a virtual space where we can exchange ideas, cheer each other on, provide advice, and generally share our love of gardening with the children in our lives. We’re in this together. Let’s #GardenTogetherAtHome!

Families: Share a photo, drawing, video, poem, or other creative medium (really, the sky's the limit!) using #GardenTogetherAtHome on social media or our online submission form describing how your family is gardening together or doing garden-related activities while you remain in your home. You don’t need a garden or a yard to participate.

Educators: Are you able to incorporate any garden-related activities or lessons in your remote learning plans? If you have creative ideas on how to get kids engaged with growing and gardening, please share on the hashtag #GardenTogetherAtHome or on our online submission form.

We've got lots of kids garden ideas for you to try, whether you've got a garden or not! Curious as to what folks are posting? Check out the gallery of Kids Garden Month entries!

Contest Rules

KidsGardening asks families and educators to share the garden activities, lessons, and practices they are doing or sharing while at home during the COVID-19 crisis. Entries describing or showing garden ideas appropriate for kids age 0-18 are eligible to win prizes. Submit photos, video, song, drawing, artwork, or words (essay, poem) about how you’re gardening together. Creativity is encouraged. If you work with kids who aren't verbal or who don't write, an adult can caption their entry (or not). Submit your entry on social media using the hashtag #GardenTogetherAtHome or via our online entry form. Note: we can only see hashtag entries from public social media accounts. Please use the entry form if your social media is set to private.

Submitting an entry gives KidsGardening.org permission to use or share the entry in the future. We welcome entries from around the world, but only U.S. entries will be considered for prizes.

The Kids Garden Month 2020 community celebration is open from April 1 - April 30, 2020.
