Since 2003, Ken has run Hathaway & Lane Direct – a consultancy providing strategic guidance in the gardening and non-profit arena. An industry veteran, he has been building value with sales, marketing, forecasting, and P/L planning expertise for companies large and small, public or private, traditional or non-profit. A career steeped in Direct-to-Consumer Gardening, he has served as Chief Marketing Officer with Stark Bro’s Nurseries, Vice President of Marketing & eCommerce for White Flower Farm as well as Director of Marketing for Jackson & Perkins Roses.

A member of American Hort, American Catalog Mailers Association and former Board Member of the Direct Gardening Association, Ken is personally active in his local community, applying a “give back” passion to his Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Economic Development Committee, United Way and as a Board Member of his local YMCA.

Ken is a lover of “All Things Gardening”, a native New Englander, alumnus of Boston University and recipient of Staples first “In Search of Excellence” award. He speaks at industry events and is a reluctantly retired half-marathon runner.

His mantra – “Lettuce does not come in bags” – guides his quest to teach kids of all ages where it, and everything else we consume, does come from.
