Perla Sofía Curbelo Santiago is the founder of Agrochic.com, a website in Spanish on agriculture, gardening and wellness. Perla Sofía has more than 20 years of experience in communications, specialized in the area of agriculture and Gardening Lifestyle. She´s based in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Perla Sofía has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, and a master’s degree in Public Relations from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón.
Also, she´s certified in Horticultural Therapy (HTC) by the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Besides being a communicator, she is an educator, mentor, podcaster, media entrepreneur, and speaker on topics about horticulture for the well-being.
An active member and ally of several professional organizations like Garden Communicators International and the American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA). She collaborates with the BIPOC Hort Group, the Spanish Association of Horticultural Therapy (AEHJST), and the American Horticultural Society (AHS).
In 2021, she was recognized by AHS, with the B.Y. Morrison Communications Award, which highlights effective and inspiring communication through print, radio, television and / or online media that promotes public interest and participation in gardening and gardening.
Perla Sofía has been a magazine editor, presenter for tv and radio, and content producer, from 2016 to 2018, for Agrohack a conference on innovation and technology in agriculture.
Besides Spanish, she speaks English and Italian.
She gardens indoors and outdoors. Loves baking, reading, meditating and Netflix. Wife, stepmother, and “mother” of Rocco, her Rottweiler.
