Fall 2016 Team Up for Healthy School Gardens Grant

Join Jamba Juice and KidsGardening.org as we Team Up for Healthy School Gardens in Phoenix, Arizona! By the end of 2016, Jamba Juice will have provided close to 250 grants totaling $130,000 for schools and youth gardens. Now that’s a great reason for us all to raise a smoothie!

Who is Eligible to Apply

The Fall 2016 Team Up for Healthy School Gardens Grant is open to public and private schools serving grades PreK to 12 that are located in Phoenix, Arizona, including the suburbs of Avondale, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Mesa, Peoria, Scottsdale, Surprise, and Tempe.

Both new and established garden programs may apply. All programs must involve at least 15 youth participants ages 3 to 18.

Recipients will be selected based on plans to promote nutrition education, ideas for incorporating fruit and vegetable-related activities into the curriculum, and the ability to sustain their garden program over multiple years.

Grant Packages

The Fall 2016 Team Up for Healthy School Gardens Grant will award 20 grant recipients with gardening packages and funding. Nineteen programs will receive a grant package valued at $500 that will include curriculum books, a $350 Gardener’s Supply gift certificate, and $100 cash to be used to purchase soil amendments and fruit and vegetable plantings. One grand prize winner will receive a package valued at $750 that will include curriculum books, a $450 Gardeners Supply gift certificate, and $250 cash.

Award Fulfillment

Grant winners will be announced on Friday, September 2, 2016. A list of recipients will be posted on KidsGardening.org, and primary contacts of winning programs will receive an email with additional instructions. Awards will be distributed in mid-September.

Reporting Requirement

Grant awardees will be required to submit a year-end impact report, due in the spring of 2017. Winning programs will be asked to submit 5-10 digital photos of their program with parental release forms. (Parental release forms can belong to the school or youth program as long as they include Kidsgardening.org and its partners.) Programs that do not complete the final report will not be eligible to apply for future awards.

No purchase necessary. Purchase of a product does not improve your chances of receiving an award.
