Materials:
- Scissors
- Tape
- Eyes and mouths printouts
- Gardening vessels such as potted plants, vases, etc.
Instructions
- Print out the various eyes and mouths on the attached sheets and either cut them in advance or provide kids with scissors to cut them out as they see fit. The features can be cut into strips or cut out individually depending on kids' abilities and preferences. Don’t have a printer? No problem! You can draw your own eyes and mouths onto paper and still enjoy the fun. Note: For added longevity and outdoor use, laminate the cut-out features.
- Have kids play around with different combinations of eyes and mouths until they find ones that they like. Some eyes and mouths express two different emotions when simply flipped upside down!
- Provide tape and allow kids to practice taping their chosen combinations onto planters and pots. Ask them to explain what emotions they think each of their characters is feeling. Take it one step further by acting out the facial expressions or emotions yourselves!
