Helen Rortvedt, Executive Director
Helen has extensive professional background in food systems and experiential education. Prior to joining the KidsGardening team, she co-founded Food Connects, a non-profit organization in southern Vermont committed to driving food system change through Farm to School programming and a local food hub serving institutional kitchens, including schools and hospitals. In her work with Food Connects, Helen coached many schools on sustaining their Farm to School programs, which included both educational and production gardens. Helen has also served as an environmental education volunteer with the Peace Corps in Bolivia. In addition, she has over ten years of experience as an outdoor and experiential educator, both in the US and abroad, including serving as a Course Director in South America for Where There Be Dragons and a Lead Instructor at Adventure Links in Virginia. Helen is a graduate of St. Olaf College and holds an M.A. in Sustainable Development from SIT Graduate Institute.
