Meet Our Board of Directors
Kit has more than 25 years of professional community planning experience ranging from design for sustainable urban communities, public financial planning, and small business development. She’s held key management positions at the Intervale Center and Health Care Without Harm’s Healthy Food in Health Care with their Health Care program. She also helped lead the creation of the Vermont Farm to Plate Strategic Plan, working with the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund.
Raised in Stow, Massachusetts, by frugal, Vermont-born parents with a large garden, Kit learned how to grow her own food at a young age and spent summers marketing her produce from a red wagon throughout her neighborhood. As a former board member with Vermont Community Garden Network and now with KidsGardening, Kit is committed to sharing this early, positive connection to gardening and local food with other children, especially food insecure families.
She put that commitment and belief into action by serving for two years as a ‘lunch lady’ at her children's school. She also wrote and was awarded a Farm to School grant that supported the school’s gardens, garden-based education and increased the percentage of local food being served in the cafeteria.
She lives in Charlotte, Vermont, with her family that includes two growing two children, 7 chickens, 2 cats, 1 dog and a charming spouse. Currently, she considers herself a a full-time family care and logistics planner, but will never stop donating her time to causes she believes in.
